SUBMISSION OF PAPER

The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) will host the 39th Association for Education Assessment in Africa (AEAA) annual conferenceon 21st to 25th August 2023, in Safari Park Hotel, Nairobi, Kenya. KNEC is honored to invite you to participate and present a paper at the conference. The Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG 4) aims at ensuring inclusive and equitable quality education and promoting lifelong learning opportunities for all. As we approach the 25th year of the new millennium, the achievement of the SDG 4 goal is still a global concern as several assessment bodies have not incorporated fair assessment that reflects the needs of diverse group of learners. The teaching professional also is slow in restructuring and empowering teachers with the best teaching approaches for inclusive learning that will create the best learning environment that is accessible for all students.


The 39th Association for Educational Assessment in Africa Annual Conference will focus on an array of aspects in educational assessment, with deliberate emphasis on integration of formative and summative assessment; as well as assessment of non-cognitive skills for the 21st Century skills. The theme of the conference therefore aims at eliciting dialogues that promote inclusivity across the entire pyramid of education, ensuring that no learner is left behind.

Sub Themes

  • Assessing multiple intelligence in the 21st century: alternative assessment, opportunities and challenges;
  • Assessment of learners with special needs including the gifted and talented;
  • Managing the social and educational effects of high stakes assessment to ensure equity and fairness ;
  • Leveraging ICT in assessment;
  • Enhancing technical, vocational and occupational assessment including recognising Prior Learning;
  • Assessment data in informing teaching, learning and policy.

 

SUBMISSION FORMATS

  • The abstract, not exceeding 350 words, should consider the following format:
    a) Author(s) (Name, Organization & email for each one)
    b) Title
    c) Subtheme
    d) Abstract
    e) Keywords
    Once the notification of acceptance of the abstract has been received, authors will be required to submit the full paper and presentation in the following format:
    a) Name of the main presenter (please note you can only be the main presenter for one paper during the conference)
    b) Font type: Times New Roman 12
    c) Line spacing: 1.5
    d) APA References
    The abstracts and papers should be submitted to aeaa2023@knec.ac.ke and upload to https://www.aeaafrica.org in adherence to the timelines.

IMPORTANT DATES

  • Conference dates: August 21st - 25th, 2023
  • Pre-conference workshops: August 20th, 2023
  • Submission deadline for paper abstracts: April 10th, 2023
  • Notification of Acceptance: April 30th, 2023
  • Deadline for submission deadline full papers/ presentations: May 31st, 2023
  • Registration deadline for presenters: June 30th, 2023
  • Close of online registration: July 31st, 2023

CONFERENCE FEES

Registration Fee: US$450
This fee includes conference materials, refreshments and some meals.
Excursion Fee: US$60
Delegates will be taken on guided tours to various places of tourist attractions in the Nairobi city and environs.
