The Educational Assessment and Examinations Service (EAES) in Ethiopia is responsible for developing, administering, and ensuring the quality of national examinations at various educational levels. It conducts educational assessments to measure student learning outcomes, providing data that informs policymakers and educators about the state and trends in educational quality.

EAES also organizes annual conferences, collaborates with national and international partners, and participates in global networks to enhance its services and share best practices.
EAES began its operations in the 1940s under the Ministry of Education and Fine Arts, with national examinations such as the General Certificate Examination (GCE) and the Ethiopian School Leaving Certificate Examination (ESLCE). By 1950, the ESLCE was administered as an independent national examination, eventually replacing the London-based GCE by 1959 to align more closely with Ethiopian educational needs. EAES strives to improve the quality of education in Ethiopia and support sustainable development through professional, innovative, and collaborative approaches.

It values professionalism, integrity, excellence, and innovation in its operations and aims to produce reliable and valid examination results that are trusted by national and international institutions.
