Climate
The Climate is tropical. The eastern coastal belt is warm and comparatively dry; the southwest corner, hot and humid; and the north, hot and dry. Northern Ghana has rainy season from April to October. The rest of the year is hot and dry, with temperatures rising up to about 38o C. In Southern Ghana the rain last from April to June and again from September to October. Generally temperatures are between 21o - 32o C.
The weather at the time of the conference is expected to be warm during the day and cool in the evenings. Cotton clothing is recommended for the whole week.
 
Language
The Official language is English. Local languages spoken include Akan, Dagbani, Ewe, Ga, Hausa and Nzema.

Red- The Blood and Toil of our fathers who fought to win independence for the country
Yellow- The mineral the country is endowed with.
Green- The country's rich vegetation.
Black Star - African emancipation and unity in the struggle against colonialism
 
Currency
Ghana's currency is the Cedi (c) and Pesewa; c1 = 100p.
Current exchange rate: US$1.00 = c0.97
Foreign currency may be exchanged at any Bank or Forex Bureau in the country.

TRAVELLING TO GHANA
The Kotoka International Airport in Accra is the only International Airport. Several airlines operate regular flights to and from major cities in Africa and the rest of the world to Accra.
Travel Documents
All persons entering Ghana must possess valid passports or travel documents establishing their identity.
Entry Visas
All foreigners are required to obtain visas. Citizens of Economic Community of West Africa States (ECOWAS) do not require entry visas. Entry visas may be obtained from any Ghana Embassy, High Commission or Consulate abroad.
Health Requirement
It is advisable to take precautions against malaria. You may be required to produce a valid Yellow Fever immunization certificate at the airport.
